Artist Biography: Michael Mason / Bromley.
Singer / Songwriter / Musician
Instruments: Vocals / accoustic,electric guitars / harmonica.
Growing up in the small town of Oxford Pa. music had a huge influence on Michael, from singing in sunday school at the four square gospel church to every stage he's stood on ever since he has been lead by the love of music.
His prolific song writing career started with influences from legendary moutain music artists Alex Campbell and Ola Belle Reed (who lived in the local area) and grew from there. Michael has many recordings to his credits, In 1984 he went to Nashville with a collection of songs that lead to his first single "can't say no" released on a 45 rpm record produced by hit producer Ronnie Light with "A" class musicians Hargus"Pigg" Robbins, Chris Luzenger, Joe Osborne, and Jerry Carrigan. The "B" side titled " My Wheels" was released on a compilation tape in 1987 and sold nationwide receiving much airplay at which time he was advized to change his stage name from Bromley to Mason. in 1993 he recorded a demo CD titled " Southern Pride" (Produced by Johnny Neel) which also became the name of his band. This compilation of self written songs appealed to some industry individuals in Nashville and the buzz was going strong leading to his next CD " Say you're gonna stay" produced by Bronson Hermuth at Master link studios. He has worked with many exceptional local bands in the Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Maryland area such as M&M Railroad, Cimmarron, Iron hill express, and the Desperado's to name a few, until 1996 and then decided to tour with his band Southern Pride. The band had some success and toured steady until he decided to go off the road for a while and make the move to Nashville to concentrate on writing and recording. In 2001 he wrote, recorded and produced his next CD with fellow musician and friend Doc Hearl titled "Both Barrels". Although its hard to label this artist his writing and singing styles has had much success in the americana genre on Mp3. Michael feels that his song writing reflects many genre's from gospel to bluegrass to country, rock and R&B and will continue writing in all genre's. He is currently working on his newest CD living near Nashville and performs on many demo sessions along with various bands and his solo show. Writing, co-writing and recording music on a daily basis.
His small business "Fortress Music" was started from the ground up in 2003 and is still in the process of growing. His catologues of songs are quite extensive and being pitched constantly in music city to many artists. Over the years he, along with his bands has opened for many major artists such as Kieth Whitley, Allison Krauss, Kitty Wells, Charlie Pride, Earl Thomas Connelly, Johnny Paycheck, Ty Herndon, Eric Heatherly, Doug Supernaw, B.J. Thomas and Jeff Bates to name a few. He has performed in many venues from casinos in Nevada, to colleges in Arizona, Georgia, to night clubs from Missouri, Texas to Canada and many road houses and bars in between all over the country. He has performed on the nashville networks " Be a star" twice along with various cable shows in Delaware and Nashville and has had many live radio interviews and performances. Michael has had cuts by various independent artists over the years and still jumps at his chance to shine in the spotlight.
Motorcycling has been a passion with Michael almost as much as his music all of his life, He also is an accomplished mechanic and enjoys customizing motorcycles, His small shop continues to gain local popularity among the biking community along with his music.
Although he is a native of Pennsylvania he calls home the great state of Tennessee, His parents came from the area in which he now resides and through his youth made many trips to visit Grandparents and family members there, Dickson county offers a great music community, awesome motorcycle riding and steeped rich in family history for Michael so you can expect this artist to continue his craft for many years to come.
